Lanikai -YELLOW KAYAKS IN A ROW-

Yellow Kayaks in a Row
Lanikai
Acrylic on Canvas
$750.00

Lanikai on Saturday

Yellow Kayaks,
outriggers and boards,
plenty of boats
and people in swarms
and yet all the calmness
of sweet Lanikai
was not lost on me
and I'm just not sure why.

Kailua Beach Park

Kailua Beach Park
It was brimming with activity but I did not see it
I had a  big empty hole in my tummy
and I am not talking about my belly button

It is always good to paint when you are happy if you want a happy painting.
If, however, you want a still , serene landscape void of feeling
then paint when you are practicing those thoughts.
The energy in your soul will flow down your arm into the paint brush.
Hard to paint a smiley face when you are pouting.

by the time we left the beach there were 16 kite boarders in that little area
it was like a huge ballet or cirque de soleil of bright kites and flying people

if you go to Kailua on the windward side of Oahu you will be thrilled with the water sport activity

Naish (store front Kailua) is the place to go for windsurfing and kite boarding instruction and equipment

how to paint an outrigger

Outrigger at Kailua

watercolor crayons

no matter what you want to paint you must get familiar with it

draw it

color it

paint it

over

and over

until

like Picasso's Bulls

the image is everywhere

and it flows from your fingers

to the paint brush

like your signature flows

from your pen.

I drew this with watercolor crayon and then touched it up with water to flow.

I just wanted another chance to know that scene at Kailua

and the angles of the Outriggers.

NOT A GREAT PAINTING

just a learning tool

TO SLEEP OR PAINT

I NEED A STUDIO

I often look at a website called "ABOUT.COM painting". It is a very informative website and I make comments and contribute whenever possible. Recently Marion Boddy-Evans (who writes the website) wanted to see pictures of artist studio spaces. She asked for the artist to NOT CLEAN UP before taking a picture.

The painting that was completed on my bed was another of Kailua Beach Park
with the outriggers on the dunes.

KAILUA BEACH PARK

KAILUA BEACH PARK

Early on a Saturday before the rest of the world is up, before the rest of the world has made coffee and climbed out of their FRIDAY NIGHT up too lateness, there is Kailua Beach Park.

Alive and kicking with runners and yoga experts, outrigger racers of all shapes and sizes, children in bright colored swimwear and the plein air painters dotting the horizon.
