PARADISE POP

Paradise Pop
otherwise known as
"never dull"

acrylic on 36 x 18 canvas

"love is never dull"
a giggly little poem for my nephew Brian and his future Wife

Love is always
just right and on time
and it's hard to contain
it keeps growing,
I sat on the beach
dreaming of love
and thrilled that it causes
great knowing,
and even with knowledge
of love's rare
imperfections
and even when things
aren't just sunny,
love fills the heart
and makes us feel smart
for choosing
love
though it's
gooey and runny

(can't wait to meet the bride)
love,
AUNT B

This is the view from Kapiolani Park that I painted
one morning. The view shows the marina , the Ewa mountain range in the distance,
the pink Royal Hawaiian off to the right and the tall Sheraton Hotel.
The main subject is the Gazebo which I hear is a good place to
sneak a kiss if you are on a date. But you better made sure you
are sincere or the waves will rise by and take you in.

Ohai Alii

"Perfect Pink Hawaii Flower"
watercolor
$580.00

The Ohai Ali'i plant has tiny little orchid shaped flowers.
So delicate and light with long pods dangling like jewelry from
the stems. It is a lucky day when you sit and watch the tradewinds
swirl the Ohai Alii into a little frenzy.

Lanikai -YELLOW KAYAKS IN A ROW-

Yellow Kayaks in a Row
Lanikai
Acrylic on Canvas
$750.00

Lanikai on Saturday

Yellow Kayaks,
outriggers and boards,
plenty of boats
and people in swarms
and yet all the calmness
of sweet Lanikai
was not lost on me
and I'm just not sure why.

Afternoon Outriggers

"Afternoon Outriggers"
original large square canvas
$1200.00

Resting close to the road near Haliewa I saw several outriggers.
Some days they are just lazy like me, going nowhere.
I don't see people resting under the palms. We are all too busy.
That is why I like this painting so much.
I just like thinking about doing nothing and going nowhere.
Ain't that a beautiful thought.

CLEM AND NORMAN'S VACAY

how to paint a palm tree by rebecca snow of honolulu hawaii
 Clem and Norman's Vacation

Norman and his brother Clem
an island trip did plan
they knew they wanted lots of sea
and just a touch of land

The concierge , well, ,there was none,
and missing was the valet
there was a hut in which to sleep
but not a lovely chalet

They were rowed out to their  retreat
a sliver off the coast
A mermaid fair to welcome them
and a tiki as their host

They donned their swim trunks
dove right in
basked in paradise.
there was not much they wanted for
and every thing was nice.
BUT
Clem got restless second day
and Norman burned his scalp
Clem read both books at the desk
and Norman fished for kelp

Came the weekend , time to go
and Clem and Norman fled
the island life is plenty grand
but no place like home in bed

(written for my sista Carole)

I MUA

Maile, Pukui and Moi Simeona running with outrigger canoe

I MUA

meaning "forward"

This is a fun bright acrylic that I have worked on
throughout the time I've been on Oahu.
Many people have touched my life since I moved
to Hawaii, but these three ladies are the heart of the island.
They are my idea of the happy strong and honorable women
of O'ahu.

(oh , and in real life they are stunningly beautiful inside and out)

Kaneohe area of O'ahu from the Paulana area of HoOmaluhia State Park , by Rebecca Snow

"PEAKS"

Acrylic on Cardboard
$25.00 plus shipping (now that's a deal)
Painted on location plein air with Mark N. Brown as the instructor.
Please take the time to join him for his demo on Saturdays at 8 am .
You can drop in for 20 dollars and get 10000 dollars in solid instuction

His critique on this finished piece was very positive.
He added that the brown of the cardboard lends itself well to bright
color use because it grounds the painting with a neutral.
hmmmmmmm
good to know
I did it cuz I did not have a canvas!

(being unprepared for class is not smart)

http://weeboopiper.wordpress.com/about/

This link is a post I like with some great views of O'ahu from the ocean. There are a lot of wonderful ship photos both old and new as well. I really love this and hope you do too.
I stumbled on it while looking for recent information about the KULA KAI fishing boat which I painted as you can see. I need to get out there to Kewalo and paint her again before she is gone.

I painted this when I first came to O'ahu.
There she is, the Kula Kai on the far left.
She is about to go under though, all worn out.
so sad

"Relax and Rest" Island Palms

Acrylic on Board

Relax and Rest
my mama said
lie down and take it easy
get yourself a coca-cola
let the palms be breezy
eat some of this cobbler pie
watch cartoons and sleep
I promise not to bother you
I will not say a peep.

(I still miss you Mom)
hope you like my paintings
and thank you for everything,
every single simple perfect thing
love,
your oldest daughter
the one you thought should paint

HAWAII WATERCOLOR SOCIETY WORKSHOPS

Kailua Outrigger Canoe
watercolor on arches paper

painted by Rebecca Snow
while in a class instructed by
Eric Wiegardt

As the workshop coordinator for
the Hawaii Watercolor Society.
I am fortunate to take part in many
watercolor workshops on O'ahu.
I took a workshop with Eric Wiegardt
last year. The class painted Plein Air
at several locations around O'ahu.
This is just one of the paintings I finished with his wonderful
thorough instruction.
This year Eric won the Gold Metal of Honor
from the American Watercolor Society.
Okay, so  now  I want to see a show of hands,
who wishes they had taken that workshop while he
was in Hawaii?

To be a member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society

SANDY SHORE BANYAN IN HONOLULU HAWAII

Banyan Paintings by Rebecca Snow of Honolulu

$325.00

"Sandy Shore Banyan"

Banyan Beauty of Waikiki

painting by Rebecca Snow of Honolulu

Banyan Beauty of Waikiki

acrylic on museum wrap canvas
$325.00

I usually write a little silly poem...but...instead a comment...

This Banyan is at Kapilani Park in Waikiki, or it was the last time I was there.
Once in a while someone gets a wild idea to chop down a tree. In  my backyard
several trees were sacrificed recently. The neighbors at the high rise next door
can watch their television and mine now. They can hear me and I can hear them.
Privacy is gone and the joy of  cool shade is no longer.

"Oh I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree."
